There seem to be a lot of London car rental companies. I am always a bit daunted to know which one to choose when I want to rent a car. I tend to ask around at work and go for a personal recommendation, but often this is a not possible and it can be difficult to know what to do.

One thing that I have done in the past is to look up some of the major companies and see what their service is like. The very popular brands, I just tend to compare on price, assuming that their service will be similar because they have a popular reputation. Other smaller companies I do tend to try to look at reviews for because I am unfamiliar with them and therefore do not know if they are good or not. I do still get worried, even though I do research, because it would be annoying if you did not get good value for money. However, I have not been disappointed so far and so hopefully I will not again either. I think that with the Internet, there is no excuse for not doing good research. Unless you manage to get a personal recommendation, which is the most reliable source of information, reading online reviews is your next best options and tends to be a good one. Just make sure you are open minded and if you are not sure then going for a well known brand is probably your safest, although maybe the most expensive option.

The capital city is always a place that is worth visiting, with so much that you can do to entertain yourself. But London is huge – way too big for you to be able to walk to everywhere you’d like to go. You could, of course, decide to put your holiday in the hands of the bus drivers but, as we know from our daily commutes, the bus routes aren’t the most traffic-free routes you’re likely to find and you could easily lose your day sat in the traffic. Now, imagine if you could be in control of your journey in such a way that you can change your route if you see that there is traffic. Why on earth would you decide not to rent a car when it’s obviously the best way to travel?

Indeed, there are very few reasons why you wouldn’t hire a car when it’s now so simple. You can book it online weeks before your trip and only have to wait in a queue for a few minutes before you pick up the keys. It can also rival the cost of using public transport because it’s so cheap. Not to mention the reliability – the public transport system in London isn’t really the best system in the world. Hiring a car allows you to reach every part of the city and go to wherever you’d like to visit. Sure, it may cost a small amount in congestion charges, but the benefits make it by far the most important thing you can do when you get to London.
