Now that the brand new Wembley Stadium (hopefully to be the host for the World Cup in a few years’ time – fingers crossed!) has been finished there has been a lot of stimulus in the area with new start-ups and established businesses alike trying to grab a piece of the tourism the stadium is generating. One important source of such investment has been in the car rental sector as many tourists have been arriving to this part of London by plane or train and therefore are in need of a car to get around. There is plenty of competition now in the area which means that price wars have begun and prices for the commonly-rented cars (the standard and relatively cheap Fords, Vauxhalls and Volkswagens) have come down rapidly in price; there is always a deal to be had for car hire in Wembley! It is quite possible to find budget cars to hire for under £50 a day and there are in fact many places offering supercars and limos out for hire, should you want to find something really quite flashy – you simply can’t turn up at Wimbledon to watch the tennis in a Smart Car now!

If you are planning to go to Wimbledon for the tennis this year, be sure to leave plenty of time to get to the actual stadium as it is sure to be busy. If you’re flying to London, it doesn’t really matter which airport you fly into as it takes pretty much the same time to get to the stadium from any of these airports.

Desperate times call for desperate measures and in this recession we are always looking for new ways in which we can save a bit of cash. There are so many times in the past that we literally just threw wads of cash down the drain thinking that the good times will last forever and not really budgeting for the eventuality that it will all come to an end at some point. This can seem very depressing but in actual fact it is a blessing in disguise; the fact that we have had our fingers burnt now means that in the future we will have learnt and not make the same mistakes again (at least, that’s the theory!). However, before we can start harbouring thoughts of the future we must get ourselves out of the financial mess that we are in at the moment so things have to be sacrificed.

If, however, you are sacrificing things when you are going on holiday, don’t let it be on your car hire. This is a crazy idea; there are so many good offers that can be found in London that it is, frankly, laziness if you are unable to find one that suits you! You won’t find a supermarket-esque
