There is no doubt about it; we are living in an age where we can no longer afford to splash out on the fancy luxuries during our stay in London like we used to be able to. The recession means that we have to make do with spending a lot less; the money simply isn’t there to allow us to flit it all away on the finer things in life. This usually results in us giving things up; we stop going out for our fancy meal every night, we stop visiting the more expensive attractions in the city, we stop going out partying every night; the list has become endless – if we are able to save a few pennies on our holiday then we will definitely do it because, hopefully, the good times will come again and we won’t be made to pay for mistakes made this time.

One place that you certainly don’t have to save on is when hiring a car. You may think that this would be the first thing to go but in actual fact, a car is essential if you want to make the most of your trip. To rely on public transport is difficult enough when you know the area but in London it is generally more complex and best avoided if possible. There are numerous cheap car rental places that can be found throughout the city and all of them offer a fantastic service at a fraction of the cost that you would expect to pay. Don’t let the recession put you off renting a car; it is the most important thing you could spend your money on!
