Outdoor Activities in London for the Active Traveler

Some travelers are adverse to museums and art galleries and have a need to experience the outdoors where ever they are. Although London’s weather is not always geared for outside fun, there are several places for the outdoor tourist who wants to be more active then strolling through Westminster Abbey or watching the changing of the guards at Buckingham palace.

One of the most popular places amongst tourists in London for recreation is Regent’s Park. The park’s history is that of a hunting ground for the royal family. Today the part is both scenic and

offers many recreation attractions. there are tennis courts, playgrounds, cricket grounds and an artificial lake. Regent’s part is best known as home to the London Zoo situated in the northern corner of the park.

The Docklands Sailing and Watersports Centre is another great place for the active tourist. With activities for youth and adults, the centre is a good place for the whole family. Water sports are the name of the game here. You can go sailing, wind sailing or kayaking. If you will be in London for a while, the centre offers courses in boating for beginners and advanced.
